It happened at Nordstrom's, 190 N. Gulph Road, around 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 17, said Upper Merion police. Store security spotted a woman leaving the store with a "pile" of clothes she didn't pay for, the department said in a release.
When security tried to stop her, the woman "ran directly" at a 70-year-old customer, knocking her over, police said. The bystander was taken to Paoli Hospital with a broken hip, an elbow injury, and lacerations to her hands, authorities said.
The suspect was eventually arrested with $2,600 of stolen merchandise, according to police. She's also accused of possessing "numerous controlled substances" and unprescribed pills, police said.
The unnamed woman was charged with robbery, simple assault, receiving stolen property, drug possession, and related counts, the department said.
